Freedom in Christ Jail Ministry

You might not know it, but there exists a completely “other world” behind the barbed-wire-topped fences and walls in thousands of prisons across the U.S.

Our heart is to serve those both within those fences and walls and those who have just been released and are looking for direction. We’d love your help as we offer freedom in Christ to these forgotten individuals.

This ministry distributes backpacks to the inmates that have been released from prison. Each week a Department of Corrections bus arrives at Denver Reception & Diagnostic Center (DRDC) on Smith Road near Havana Street to drop off inmates that have served their time.

We have a team there to meet them the first Monday and second Tuesday of every month and give a backpack to any man who wants one. The backpacks contain about a dozen hygiene items, a Bible, a resource sheet, bus coupons, and an information card about the church. We take time to pray with each man, always looking for that opportunity to lead them to the Lord for salvation. We go to four detention centers to conduct worship services. These services consist of:

  • opening prayer
  • possible hymns or songs
  • possible brief testimony from one of our staff
  • the Word ministered
  • and an alter call

Every 2nd Sunday from 9-10am we lead worship at the downtown Denver Van Cises-Simonet Detention Center.

We  lead worship from 3-5pm at the Adams County Detention Center every 2nd Sunday.

Every 4th and 5th Sunday, we conduct worship at the Denver County Jail from 9-10am.

Every 4th Sunday from 7:15-9:15pm we lead worship at the Jefferson County Detention Center. We have several men who have committed to mentoring released inmates. Our mentors work in conjunction with Prison Fellowship. Our vast team of prayer warriors pray in agreement for restoration, healing, deliverance and hope daily. Members pray for the requests of those in jails, prisons and the body of Christ. People’s lives are being changed by God through His Holy Spirit in prayer. Our dynamic and committed ministry of women cheerfully serve women incarcerated and those released.  Our desire is to reflect God’s love, acceptance and to share the Gospel of Jesus.  We conduct Bible Studies weekly, Official Visits, offer mentoring, correspondence and bless them with God’s Clothes Closet, preparing our sisters inside for Job Readiness and a new start.  The love of Christ touches and warms the hearts of these women, many are surrendering their lives to Christ and reaping the benefits. Join us and be a blessing.
