Jail Ministry

Smith Road Outreach
This ministry distributes backpacks to the inmates that have been released from prison. Each week a Department of Corrections bus arrives at Denver Reception & Diagnostic Center (DRDC) on Smith Road near Havana Street to drop off inmates that have served their time. We have a team there to meet them and give a backpack to any man who wants one. The backpacks contain about a dozen hygiene items, a Bible, a resource sheet, an inspirational greeting card, bus tokens, and an information card about the church. We take time to pray with each man, always looking for that opportunity to lead them to the Lord for salvation.
Worship Ministry
We go to three detention centers to conduct worship services. These services consist of:
- open prayer
- possible hymns or songs
- brief testimony from one of our staff
- the Word ministered
- and an alter call
Every 2nd Sunday from 9-10am we lead worship at the new downtown Van Cises-Simonet Detention Center, then lead worship from 3-5pm at the Adams County Detention Center.
Every 4th Sunday from 7:15-9:15pm we lead worship at the Jefferson County Detention Center.
Sports Ministry
Our staff goes into a facility to play the inmates in basketball or softball (seasonal). We share Christ with the inmates at halftime of each basketball game and after each softball game.
Mentoring Ministry
We have several men who have committed to mentoring released inmates. Our mentors work in conjuction with Prison Fellowship. If you need more details regarding this ministry, please contact Warren Holloway (Jail Ministry Coordinator) via email.
Correspondence Ministry
Partnering with Love Letters of Grace, we provide letters to keep inmates encouraged in Christ.
