Our Mission...

Making the Gospel accessible to the marginalized in a wholistic and culturally relevant way...

One block at a time...

One person at a time...

As legend has it, Lifeboat 14 was the only boat that, despite the danger to its occupants, returned to rescue survivors of the Titanic before it sank in the icy waters of the north Atlantic. And so, like the original Lifeboat 14, we trust God to help us overcome our fears of the unknown so that we might be used by Him to reach those that the world has forgotten and ignored.

Alice's Story...

Alice was a divorced mother of two young boys living in one of our Lifeboat 14 apartments. She didn't have a job, her boys were getting into trouble, and she and her live-in boyfriend often drank too much. They weren't the kind of folks you'd naturally think of inviting to church. But the Lifeboat team loved them anyway, going out each Friday night to spend time with the kids - playing games, riding bikes, doing Bible studies, building relationships. And each week the Resource Center provided desperately needed groceries. Eventually Alice, and the other residents began to call the apartment their "church."And then, a year after the Lifeboat team first introduced the new "church" with a Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween, Alice stopped them one night. With tears in her eyes she said, "Thank you for the church and for caring for us as if we were your family. You know, I didn't think you were ever going to come back after you did the Trunk-or-Treat."Taken aback, the team asked "Why not? We told you we were here to stay."And Alice replied, "Because that's what all the other church-people did." God hasn't given up and he never leaves us. We want to do the same in Lifeboat 14.

Church-on-the-Block

"We are so blessed to have finally found a ministry where our two young kids can serve along beside us." Robin and Pat at Lighthouse

The church rents apartments in low-income neighborhoods for the purpose of creating a neighborhood church. There is a team of people committed to building relationships with the residents in the neighborhood What does this church look like? It looks exactly like the joining of needs with gifts! In other words, the team gets to know the community and its needs and then offers its gifts to meet those needs.

Here are some examples of what you can do:

  • if you enjoy working with children... start a craft or game night.
  • if you speak Spanish... start a Spanish Bible study or an ESL class.
  • if you enjoy riding or repairing bicycles... start a biking ministry.
  • if you work with computers... start a job skills program.
  • if you have a gift for ________... start a ________ (you fill in the blanks!).

Lifeboat 14 Resource Center

"I keep coming because I see how the Holy Spirit is changing people and changing me." Tasha at Dutch Mill

The resource center supports the ministry by providing for the physical needs of those living in the apartments.

Once a month, a Lifeboat 14 Campus Collection of canned goods, toiletries, diapers, paper products and other commodities is collected at each Colorado Community Church campus. The Resource Center team sorts and bags the items and delivers them to the Lifeboat 14 apartment communities twice each month.

The delivery days offer wonderful opportunities to interact with and pray for the residents, as well as reinforce the relationships developed by the church-on-the-block teams. Contact Keith Johnston at 720-934-5614.
